What is therapy?
At Equal Psychology, we believe that understanding yourself does not mean something is broken. Your mind naturally seeks to make sense of your experiences, and sometimes you need space to explore this with someone else - we sit with you in that space of curiosity and reflection.

Together, we look at the patterns that shape your life - not to judge them, but to understand them. This understanding opens up new possibilities for how you move through your world.

Areas we support
You might find therapy helpful if you’re…
-
Feeling stuck in the same thoughts, emotions, or behaviours.
-
Struggling with focus, motivation, or decision-making.
-
Managing stress, anxiety, or low mood that feels hard to shift.
-
Living with ADHD or navigating neurodivergence in a world that often doesn’t get it.
-
Carrying the mental load of chronic health challenges.
-
Wanting a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationships.
Our approach to therapy
We create a structured space where you can safely explore what matters to you. Our approach combines professional expertise with genuine human connection. In our sessions, we:
-
Take time to understand your unique situation
-
Look at patterns with curiosity rather than judgment
-
Draw on evidence-based therapeutic methods
-
Move at a pace that feels right for you
-
Focus on what matters most to you.

What happens in session
-
Sessions begin with a brief check-in - you choose what feels important to discuss that day
-
Our space is both structured and flexible - some weeks you might want to explore deeply, others you might need practical strategies
-
You can book weekly, fortnightly or find a rhythm that works for you
-
Your session can be in-person, or online - whichever suits your schedule.
How we work with trauma
We see trauma not as a problem to fix, but as the body’s way of protecting itself in moments that felt too much, too fast, or not enough for too long. These patterns often begin outside of our awareness, but they continue to shape how we think, feel, and relate.
We don’t push for retelling or analysis. Instead, we use approaches like Brainspotting to help the nervous system process what may have remained unfinished. This method supports deep, body-based healing without needing to find the right words.
Together, we bring gentle attention to what your system has been holding. As safety builds, you may begin to reconnect with parts of yourself that felt distant or stuck. This understanding opens space for new ways of responding, ways that are grounded, present, and more in tune with who you are today.
