Equal Psychology
Fees and rebates
Clear pricing, no surprises. Here's what a session costs, what you can get back through Medicare, and how ADHD identification is priced.
Therapy
Individual sessions, in person at Kew or Croydon, or online across Australia.
- Session (between 9am and 5pm): $240
- After-hours surcharge (sessions from 5pm and Saturdays): plus $20
- Cancellation and no-show (within 24 hours, or missed): full fee
A Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP gives you a Medicare rebate of $98.95 per therapy session, for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. With the rebate, a standard $240 session leaves you about $141.05 out of pocket.

Frequently asked questions
- Do I need a referral to see a psychologist?
- No, you don't need a referral to book a session. But if you want to access Medicare rebates, you'll need a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) from your GP or psychiatrist.
- Can I use private health insurance for psychology sessions?
- Many private health insurers offer rebates for psychology services under Extras cover. Coverage varies, so it's best to check with your provider to see what's included in your plan. You can't claim a Medicare rebate and a private health rebate for the same session.
- Does Equal Psychology accept NDIS clients?
- Yes. We work with self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants aged 18 and over. If you're unsure whether psychology is covered in your plan, check with your NDIS planner or support coordinator.
- Are sessions covered by WorkCover or TAC?
- Yes, we provide psychology services for WorkCover, TAC, and Support at Home clients. You'll need an approved claim number before booking, and sessions must be pre-approved. If you're unsure how this works, feel free to reach out.
- What is your cancellation policy?
- We ask for at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations within 24 hours are charged the full session fee, and missed appointments (no-shows) are also charged the full fee. Medicare and private health insurance don't cover missed appointments.
- Do you offer telehealth sessions?
- Yes. We offer video sessions, which are eligible for Medicare rebates if you have a Mental Health Treatment Plan. Some private health insurers also cover telehealth, so check with your provider.
